Laying
the groundwork for “Digital Artifacting”
Summary
Digital Artifacting is
a new age concept of an age old process of the discovery of knowledge
about time and space by people to provide us better truth
about history. Our Digital Artifacting (DA) process
is unprecedented when evaluated in terms of time, quality and
cost. It begins with attaching an artifact quality Digital Medallion
on an object. The Digital Medallion is then infused with
knowledge of archival quality facts and links about itself
on itself providing the same function as artifact provenance.
The process provides balance to the facts that reside about a thing on the
thing(more than company, model, serial number stamped on it); and trying to
find all the needed knowledge about a thing in huge databases or
libraries somewhere available only to some. A thing underground or
occupying space without knowledge soon becomes just another unknown thing
which will require an expensive rediscovery process. With our
application of Knowledge Infusion (KI) into Digital Medallions (DM)
attached to things, people have quick and cost effective knowledge about assets
versus things that require a rediscovery process by a knowledgeable person to
remain assets. Through Digital Artifacting a thing is enabled
to provide the knowledge of who said what and when about it, and proof
that they were entrusted to say it.
